A glass of something nice, bubbles bubbling away, maybe a sunset if the British weather decides to cooperate for once. We absolutely get the appeal.
But at Moorhen Lodge, we’ve made the decision not to have a hot tub — and it’s not because we’re trying to be difficult.
It’s because Moorhen Lodge is right beside the lake, and the whole point of staying here is to slow down, enjoy the water, watch the wildlife and make the most of a peaceful fishing break.
It Keeps the Lodge Peaceful
Moorhen Lodge is all about calm lakeside stays. Quiet mornings, birds on the water, a brew by the window and that lovely feeling of not having to rush anywhere.
A lodge with hot tub can be brilliant in the right setting, but hot tubs do tend to bring a different kind of atmosphere. More noise, later nights, extra coming and going, and sometimes a bit more “party weekend” than “peaceful fishing lodge”.
That’s not really what we’re about.
We want Moorhen Lodge to feel relaxed, quiet and in keeping with the lake.
It Helps Protect the Lake
The lake is the heart of Lincoln Lane Lakes. It’s home to our fish, visiting birds and all the wildlife that makes the place what it is.
Hot tubs need chemicals, water changes, drainage and regular maintenance. Even when they’re looked after properly, they come with extra things to think about — especially when they’re close to a fishing lake.
So, rather than adding something that could create unnecessary risk or extra pressure on the setting, we’ve kept things simple.
The fish would probably thank us, if they could communicate.
It’s Better for the Kind of Break We Offer
Moorhen Lodge is ideal for people who want to fish, relax and enjoy being right by the water.
Instead of focusing on being a lodge with hot tub, we focus on what guests actually come here for: peaceful surroundings, lakeside views and the chance to enjoy fishing without having to travel anywhere once you arrive.
For many of our guests, the real treat is stepping outside and being right beside the lake.
No queues. No packing the car. No “who forgot the landing net?”
Just you, the water and a proper bit of time to switch off.
Less Fuss, More Comfort
Hot tubs are lovely, but they are also a bit needy.
They need cleaning, heating, testing, rules, water changes and plenty of behind-the-scenes faff. (Which we have to worry about enough with lake water!) By not having one, we can keep Moorhen Lodge simpler, calmer and focused on what matters most: a clean, comfortable place to stay in a beautiful lakeside setting.
It also helps keep things practical and good value.
And honestly, the lake is already doing a pretty good job of being the main attraction.

If your heart is set on a lodge with hot tub, Moorhen Lodge might not be the one.
